Mrs. Regina deChabert Petersen, Administrator of Courts, wishes to advise the general public and members of the Virgin Islands Bar that on Friday, March 2, 2018, in observation of National Employee Appreciation Day, the Judicial Branch of the Virgin Islands will close its facilities in both districts from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Both the Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands and the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands will be closed for the annual employee appreciation activities. However, all previously calendared matters and Advice of Rights will be heard as scheduled. The Courts will resume normal operations promptly at 2:00 p.m. |

On November 14, 2012, the U.S. House of Representatives passed by unanimous consent Bill No. HR 6116, which was sponsored by Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen. The bill provides for appeals from the Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands to go directly to the United States Supreme Court instead of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. The Virgin Islands Supreme Court Electronic Filing System (VISCEFS) will be upgraded to version 4.3.1. A primary benefit of this upgrade will allow the Supreme Court to begin storing all electronic documents in the PDF/A 1.4 standard effective March 19, 2012. As part of the system change, the VISCEFS will be unavailable from Friday, March 16, 2012 beginning at 5:15 p.m. until Monday, March 19, 2012 ending at 8:00 a.m. |

Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands uppgrades its VISCEFS application |
|
On Thursday, January 5, 2012, the Supreme Court of the Virgin Islands upgraded its Electronic Filing application to version 2.2. This upgrade will allow for e-filers to have multiple auxiliary emails on their account to allow identified staff to also receive email notification of filings. This change is a result of numerous requests for this feature, and the Supreme Court is happy to provide this new functionality.
To update your account, log into the VISCEFS (Virgin Islands Supreme Court Electronic Filing System). Select the Account tab. On this screen you will have the opportunity to “add another email address. When finished click the save button.
